I Know Better… So Why Do I Still Do the Same Sh*t?” (The Truth About Hypnosis)

Hypnosis Isn’t Woo; Your Brain Is Just Finally Listening

Let’s just say it.

Hypnosis has a PR problem.

People hear “hypnosis” and think:

  • clucking like a chicken

  • losing control

  • someone making you do weird shit

And I get it… that’s what we’ve been shown.

But real hypnosis?

It’s not about losing control.

It’s about finally understanding why you feel, think, and react the way you do… and actually changing it.

So what’s actually happening?

Here’s the simplest way I can explain it.

Your brain has two main parts running the show:

  • Your conscious mind (about 5%) → logic, decision-making, willpower

  • Your subconscious mind (about 95%) → habits, emotional patterns, beliefs, automatic responses

So when you say:

“I know better… but I still do the same thing.”

That’s not a discipline problem.

That’s a program.

And your subconscious is the one running it.

Hypnosis = accessing the part that actually runs your life

In hypnosis, your brain shifts into a theta state (same as deep meditation or that floaty feeling right before sleep).

This is where:

  • your body relaxes

  • your nervous system calms down

  • your brain becomes more open to change

Basically… your brain stops fighting you for a minute.

And no, you’re not asleep.

You’re not out of control.

You’re actually more aware, just not overthinking everything.

Research even shows increased theta brainwave activity during hypnosis, which is linked to learning, memory, and emotional processing.

Translation: your brain is finally like, “okay… we can do something different now.”

Why talking about your problems isn’t always enough

You can talk about your past all day long.

You can understand it. Analyze it. Be very aware of it …and still feel stuck.

Why?

Because awareness doesn’t automatically change the pattern.

If the subconscious program is still there, you’ll keep looping it.

Hypnosis works differently because it:

  • bypasses the overthinking mind

  • calms the nervous system

  • creates space for new patterns to actually stick

It’s less “let’s talk about it forever” and more “let’s actually shift it.”

What people actually experience

This is the part that matters.

After sessions, I hear things like:

  • “I feel lighter… like something finally released.”

  • “I don’t react the same way anymore.”

  • “It’s like I can pause now instead of spiraling.”

  • “My body just feels calmer.”

  • “My brain isn’t fighting me anymore.”

And my personal favorite: “Why didn’t I do this sooner?”

How I teach and use this in real life

This isn’t just something I talk about online.

In our monthly Reset & Release Workshops, I break this down in a way that actually makes sense.

No fluff.

No pressure to believe anything.

No weird vibes.

We start with the nervous system because if your body doesn’t feel safe, nothing is changing.

Then I explain what’s happening in your brain in real terms, so you can actually understand why you feel the way you do.

And then… we go into it.

A guided group hypnosis session.

Not scary. Not weird. Not out of control.

Just you… relaxed, aware, and finally able to access what’s been sitting underneath everything.

And every time, people come out of it saying: “I didn’t expect that… but I feel different.”

Let’s talk about the “woo” for a second

Because I know some of you are thinking it.

Here’s the truth:

Hypnosis can be as “woo” or as grounded as you want it to be.

You can experience it as:

  • a nervous system reset

  • a way to rewire patterns in your brain

  • a tool to release stored stress and emotional weight from your body

Or… you can go deeper.

  • connecting with your higher self

  • gaining clarity about your life and direction

  • feeling more aligned with who you actually are

Both are valid.

You don’t have to force meaning onto it.

But what I see over and over again is this:

When your body finally relaxes…and your subconscious opens…

...things come up... clarity happens... shifts happen

And sometimes, that includes releasing things your body has been holding onto for years.

Not because it’s magic.

Because you’re allowing your body to finally feel safe enough to let the unnecessary shit go.

My experience with hypnosis

I wouldn’t be doing this if I hadn’t felt it myself.

For me, hypnosis:

  • quieted the constant mental noise

  • helped my body feel safe again

  • shifted patterns I had been stuck in for years

But the biggest thing?

I started trusting myself again.

Not in a fluffy way.

In a grounded, regulated, “I’m not spiraling anymore” kind of way.

Bottom line

Hypnosis isn’t mind control. It’s not magic.

It’s your brain doing what it was designed to do:

change, adapt, and heal.

Most people just haven’t been taught how to access that part.

If you’re feeling stuck

If you’ve tried:

  • talking about it

  • thinking your way out of it

  • “just being more disciplined”

…and nothing’s really shifting?

It might not be you.

You might just be trying to fix a subconscious problem with c

onscious tools.

And that’s where this work hits different.

Want to experience it?

I offer 1:1 sessions where we work with your subconscious, not against it.

And if you’re not ready for that, our Reset & Release Workshops are the perfect place to start.

No pressure. Just real work.
